About Ruth
I’m an American Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with years of experience supporting adults through stress, emotional overwhelm, and major life transitions. I’m also an expat — based in Lyon, France — and I built my practice around the tools and approaches that have made the biggest difference, both in my clinical work and in my own life here.
In France, I offer EFT Tapping sessions and education for English-speaking expats. These sessions are coaching and educational in nature — not clinical therapy — and are designed to help you reduce stress, work through emotional intensity, and build practical skills you can use between sessions and beyond.
Why EFT Tapping
When I arrived in France, I was surprised by how physical the stress felt. Tight chest. Broken sleep. A low hum of anxiety I couldn’t quite name. I’d worked with a lot of tools professionally, but EFT was the one that reached that layer most effectively — and most gently.
That experience shaped my practice. I use EFT because I’ve seen what it does — for chronic stress, for sleep, for old grief, for specific fears, and for the kind of quiet overwhelm that expat life tends to produce. The research behind it is growing, and my results with clients have consistently reinforced why I keep coming back to it.
My approach
Sessions are calm, practical, and paced to you. We identify what’s most pressing, work on it directly, and you leave with something concrete — either a shift in how you’re holding a specific issue, or a tool to use on your own.
A few things that shape how I work:
Grounded in research
EFT is evidence-informed, and I stay current with the literature so sessions reflect what actually works
Trauma-aware
I work at a pace that feels safe, and I know how to move carefully around difficult material
Practically focused
You’ll build skills you can use in daily life, not just insights that stay in the session room
Expat-informed
I understand the specific pressures of this life — language, identity, isolation, grief — because I’ve lived them

Professional background
I hold a clinical license as an LCSW in the United States. In France, I provide non-clinical EFT Tapping coaching and education — sessions are not therapy, and are not intended to diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions. If you’re unsure whether this kind of support is right for your situation, I’m happy to talk it through on a free call.
Working together
Clients often describe our work as calm, grounded, and surprisingly effective. We move at a pace that’s comfortable for you, with room to focus on what matters most — without pressure or judgment.
I work in-person in Lyon and online across France and the US.
